THE FEELING

Time has been very good to this one.

Velvet Relic opens with bergamot and pink pepper before ylang-ylang and jasmine begin to bloom through a veil of incense. Cedar gives the florals structure while rum, vanilla, and benzoin gather underneath...warm, resinous, slightly boozy, and beautifully worn-in.

It smells like opening a drawer that hasn't been touched in years and finding something far too lovely to have been forgotten. Velvet gone soft at the folds. A little perfume still clinging somewhere it shouldn't. An object whose value has less to do with what it is than how long someone decided to keep it.

Not pristine.

Better.

Wrap it carefully.
Aldehydes, white peach, orange blossom, lily-of-the-valley, vetiver, musk, ambroxan, and vanilla lift Velvet Relic's incense and rich florals with something sheer and airy. The relic remains warm and resinous...just viewed now through a layer of pale silk.

DEEPEN IT ⋆ The Castle Remembers
Put it back where you found it.
Sandalwood, amber, vanilla, cedarwood, musk, and florals reinforce Velvet Relic's woods and vanilla while surrounding its incense with deeper warmth. The pairing feels old in the loveliest possible way...like an object and the room that has kept it all these years finally reunited.

MAKE IT STRANGE ⋆ Gin Blanc
Polish it with something questionable.
Juniper berry, orange peel, black pepper, angelica, vetiver, and leather cut through rum, benzoin, vanilla, and incense with cool aromatic sharpness. Suddenly Velvet Relic feels cleaner, drier, and unexpectedly eccentric...like discovering the precious family heirloom was used for something considerably less dignified than everyone claims.

Carrier Oils: Sweet Almond (tree nut) + Jojoba.

HOW TO WEAR

Roll onto pulse points, behind the ears, along the collarbone, or anywhere you'd like the scent to stay close.

Age unknown. Provenance questionable. Keeping it anyway.
